The National Do Not Call Registry enables American consumers to enroll in a list of telephone numbers that do not receive telemarketing calls. Similar service to Do Not Call Registry is also available in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, India or Singapore.
The National Do Not Call Registry of United States covers all its 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, North Mariana Islands, American Samoa, and toll-free numbers (500, 800, 866, 877, 880, 881, 882, and 888).
The Do Not Call Registry is operated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and enforced by the FTC. Any complaints can be sent to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the respective state Attorney General’s offices.
Since 2004, when the “National Do Not Call Act” was enacted in the US, it appears it has a little effect. Is there anything that consumers miss by registering in the Do Not Call Registry?
We put together a list of pros and cons of registration in the Do Not Call list. Just after registration in the Do Not Call Registry, certain percentage of consumers have noticed an increase in telemarketing calls, even telephone numbers that had never received any unsolicited calls. Based on a VoxPop study, about 80% of all registered noticed reduction in calls, while about 13% this effect was completely reversed.

If you have registered in the Do Not Call Registry and yet received a telemarketing call, you are entitled for filing a complaint with the FTC. If a company fails to comply with the rules, it can be fined up to $16,000 per incident.

June 27, 2003, when the Do Not Call Registry was launched, its registration portal collapsed. Since then, as in other registries, hundreds of millions of landline and mobile phone numbers were recorded in the United States National Do Not Call Registry.

With one e-mail addresses up to three telephone numbers can be registered. To confirm your registration, you will receive an e-mail from email@example.com. When registering by phone, you must call from the number you wish to register. DNC Registry Singapore also enables registration to No Voice Call Register and No Text Message Register via a one single SMS.
+ There is No Subscription Renewal
The former limit five years for every landline subscription has been removed in 2007, so you no longer need to renew. The registration is permanent, unless you unsubscribe from the Do Not Call service, move or change your number.
SHOULDIANSWER has no limits for its use, if desired it can be easily uninstalled.
+ Exempt Organizations Can Voluntarily Subscribe to the Do Not Call Registry for Free
Any business exempted from the FTC’s and FCC’s requirements can voluntarily choose avoiding phone calls to the Do Not Call Registry subscribers and will not pay any fees to access the Do Not Call Registry data.
